Short Horse Loop Walk/Run

Took off for a short run, but got a phone call about 10 min into it, so chose to walk the rest until we hung up the last 1/4 mile.  Probably good for my back since I’m really tender on the right side today with radiating pain into the heel.  Glut/piriformis are beyond tight.

Run Around Field, Walk Rd/Hill

Ran around field behind my house. It was so sunny and beautiful, but the wind was sooo cold. I was under-dressed and once my feet got wet, I froze. Stopped by my house to hose off legs, put on dry pants, shoes, socks and jacket, then walked up to Yates hill, back didn’t make it very far before the kids’ bus came. Ran to meet bus from the hill and it felt so good to run, even if it was on the road - typical for me to feel great right at the 30 min mark of a workout - that’s definitely my “I can run forever” zone, even if it doesn’t seem to last forever :-) Was good to have the walk back with the kids to cool down before my friend came over to get her neck/back worked on. Ended up giving her a 90 min massage, which I think is good strength/stability work for my body too.

Family Hike WHT -Ceres Hill Rd

This family hike started with lots of whining and grumpiness, but turned to a giggle-fest at about halfway.  Hubby was telling the kids silly stories about himself and grandpa, and the kids were telling him jokes and that he should be on Comedy Central.  This section of the WHT taking off heading east from Ceres HIll Rd intersection has a gentle grade and is nice compact gravel - looks very mtn bikable.  The kids collected lots of rocks in their pockets that I’m still finding around the house and also found two rusted railroad spikes that we took home to add to our cool one with rock formed around the middle that we found on the beach in Seward.  Great family hike!

LC Park Horse Side Short Loop

2.5 mile trail run/walk with lots of climbing over/under around downed trees.  I felt strong and fast on the last half.  Jdog got pretty excted about the fluffiest, fattest porcupine I’ve ever seen, but thankfully let him waddle off while I was hollering “Leave it!”  I so did not want to have to pull quills like my dad used to do with his not-so-smart hunting dogs.  The giant rhodie bush in front of the ranger’s log cabin is all in bloom with hot pink flowers.

Decided to run even though I’ve got a nasty cold.  This run felt good on my body except for a little left lower back twinge.   Walked the big hills, ran the small rollers.

Walked maybe a mile while Sof rode her bike, then played basketball and 2 square in the driveway with her.  Loosened up my sore bod and got some fresh air and sun.

Walk/Run Field and to Bus Stop

Ran slow with 2-3 min walk breaks every 6-8 min or so due to some shooting pain/tingling into Left achilles/calf and lowere back pain. The walking made the calf pain better which leads me to believe it eases pressure on wahtever spinal nerve root is getting pinched, but walking made my low back/hips more sore, so I chose to run the majority. Achilles/calf pain did decrease near the end so maybe I jsut need a slow warm-up??? Walked the street portion to meet the bus as a cool down after a 15 min break of yard cleaning/gardening.

Walk - 0.3 hours - 01/27/2010

After 3 days spent pretty much in my bed or the bathroom, I think this nasty GI bug is going away  No wonder I was so achey, freezing cold and had the upset tummy all weekend.  I think my brain just help my bod together until i got home.  Ventured out today for a couple of hours of work and then an easy walk around the block with my neighbor.  Still feel kinda weak, achey and dizzy, but probably  70% better than I was.
